"I encourage all schools to get involved with this competition... the quality of the young people's artwork is always very high, the kids all love getting involved and Show Racism the Red Card is a really good and important message."
- Christine Blower, SRtRC Honorary Vice President
** REGISTRATION EXTENDED 'TILL 31ST OF MARCH **
The Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) School Competition sees young people from schools throughout England create their own anti-racism messages in a variety of formats and is the largest equalities-themed competition for young people in the country.
One of the few competition stipulations is that young people must have worked with SRtRC resources and activities within an educational setting, and having done so entrants then have the flexibility to get creative with their anti-racism messages.
SRtRC is encouraging young people from schools across England to create their own anti-racism messages to combat racism as part of the 2017 School Competition.
Open to young people of all ages, the free-to-enter competition encourages participants to produce anti-racism themed artwork in any medium; creative writing – including poetry, short stories and newspaper style articles; film and music pieces.
Throughout its history, entrants into the competition have produced truly inspirational work, some of which has gone on to be incorporated into the campaign’s wider awareness-raising activities.
In recent years, the popularity of the multimedia category has grown substantially, with the overall winners for the 2014 and 2015 competitions producing exceptional short films.
The competition is divided into 8 categories featuring artwork, creative writing and multi-media amongst others.
All competition winners will be invited to a special awards ceremony at a Premier League stadium with prizes presented by special guests, including current and former professional footballers.
